GMC recently announced that the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 would include a brand-new powertrain configuration: a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. This new motor is fuel-efficient, ready for off-road adventures, and extremely capable.
Fuel Efficiency: One of the most surprising benefits of diesel engines is increased fuel efficiency, and the new Turbo-Diesel engine on the Sierra 1500 is proof. Thanks to the new engine, a high compression ratio, a variable geometry turbocharger, and Active Thermal Management technologies, the 2020 Sierra 1500 gets up to 30 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in the city.*
Ready for Off-Roading: One of the best parts of truck ownership is the capability for off-road adventures. The Sierra’s all-new engine option delivers an impressive 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which means you can enjoy plenty of power for navigating rocky terrain. The available Traction Select System can assist the new Duramax engine to provide peak off-road traction control.
Highly Capable: As with all variants of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, the 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel engine is built for power. The engine has the capability to tow up to 9,100 pounds and is rated to carry up to 1,830 pounds of payload.
