Picking The Right Car Seat For Your GMC SUV

Picking the right car seat - Clinton Twp, MI

Whether you’ve got children or you’re expecting, it’s vitally important to make sure you have a car seat to keep them as safe as you are in your GMC SUV. However, the buying process can be difficult if you don’t know what to look for. So, we put together a quick list of tips for picking the right car seat for your GMC.

Pick the right size

No matter their age, kids grow like weeds, and their size and age make a big difference in which car seat is right for them. For instance, infants and very young children’s car seats should be rear-facing, whereas toddlers’ seats should be front-facing. Additionally, as your young one gets bigger, they may outgrow their car seat, so make sure they fit comfortably before making a final decision.

Make sure the seat fits

Car seats aren’t all the same, so it’s important to make sure that any one you’re thinking about buying will actually fit in your vehicle. If you can’t get it to sit firmly on the actual seat or you have trouble securing it, look for another option.

Practice installation

Actually getting a car seat into place can be deceptively challenging, so give installing it a few test runs before you finalize the purchase.

GMC SUVs like the Acadia are safe enough to earn a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but a car seat is essential for children, even in the safest of vehicles. Preparing Your Truck for Off-Roading

Preparing your truck for off-roading - Clinton Twp, MI

There are plenty of amazing places to take your GMC truck off-roading in Michigan, but you won’t get far if your truck isn’t properly outfitted for hitting the trails. From your friends at Jim Causley Buick GMC Truck, here’s a list of essential upgrades for preparing your truck for off-roading near Clinton Township.

Off-road tires

Installing all-terrain tires is necessary for safe driving off-road. All-terrain tires are designed to grip onto looser surfaces like dirt and sand better than standard tires can, letting you navigate forest trails, deserts, and other off-road surfaces more easily.

Skid plate

When you’re driving on rocky, loose, or wet terrain, you need a skid plate to protect the underside of your truck. The skid plate acts as a barrier between debris from the road and the important parts housed under your vehicle, including the radiator and drivetrain.

Lift kit

A lift kit raises your truck further off the ground, giving you more ground clearance for driving over steep hills and other obstacles without scraping the underside of your truck. Body and suspension lift kits exist, but only suspension lift kits give you more ground clearance.

Emergency equipment

You should never go off-roading without equipment that can help you recover from emergencies like getting stuck in mud or sand, tire punctures, and running out of fuel. And don’t forget to pack plenty of food, water, spare clothing, and sleeping bags in case you get stuck somewhere overnight.

With these upgrades, you’ll be all set for your next off-road adventure. To order and install these parts on your truck or find a pre-modified off-road truck to purchase, visit Jim Causley Buick GMC Truck today.

Meet the New GMC AT4 Lineup

The 2021 GMC lineup will introduce the off-road AT4 trim to several new vehicles, including the Terrain small SUV, the Canyon small truck, and the Yukon large SUV. The AT4 trim will continue to be available on the mid-size Acadia SUV and the Sierra full-size truck line.

The decision to add the AT4 trim to more GMC vehicles was an easy one, thanks to year-over-year increases in AT4 sales. Off-road capability is one of the most sought-after qualities in SUVs and trucks today, and the AT4 adds a wide range of smart off-roading features.

Across the lineup, the AT4 trim adds a suspension lift for higher ground clearance, making uneven terrain safer and easier to navigate. AT4 vehicles also come with special skid plates, shocks, and all-terrain tires.

In addition to off-road parts, the AT4 makes some available features standard, like the MultiPro™ Tailgate on the Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD pickup truck, which can open in various configurations, and up to 15 camera views that provide better visibility for tricky terrain.

The AT4 trim is also distinguished by its rugged design upgrades. With highlights like a black chrome grille, light surrounds, appliques, and unique interior fabric colors, you can customize your AT4 to your preferences.

A History of General Motors Innovations Throughout the Years

You take a lot of the basic features in your car for granted. But at some point in history, that feature didn’t exist, and someone invented it. Many of these essential vehicle features came from General Motors. These are some of the General Motors innovations that changed the industry forever.

Automatic transmission

The first automatic transmission, called the Hydra-Matic, made its debut on the 1940 Oldsmobile. Today, nearly every car sold is equipped with an automatic transmission.

Air bags

General Motors was the first company to use air bags commercially in the 1970s (under the name “air cushion restraint system”) in the Buick and Oldsmobile brands. Today, air bags in cars are as necessary as steering wheels, and have saved countless lives.

Catalytic converter

A catalytic converter helps control the amount of toxic gases emitted by your car. General Motors started developing the converter in the 1960s and implemented the first units for the 1975 model year.

OnStar®

The now-beloved OnStar® system made its first appearance in 1996. It was the first type of in-car communication system and was used to offer drivers’ assistance long before cell phones became massively popular. More than 7 million drivers continue to use OnStar® today for help with emergency services, diagnostics, and even Wi-Fi.

While the industry continues to see new technology created on a regular basis, the early innovations of General Motors reminds us that sometimes, the best things never change. Visit Jim Causley GMC today for a look at the latest innovations from GM.

Ways the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Turbo-Diesel Engine Is a Beast

GMC recently announced that the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 would include a brand-new powertrain configuration: a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. This new motor is fuel-efficient, ready for off-road adventures, and extremely capable.

Fuel Efficiency: One of the most surprising benefits of diesel engines is increased fuel efficiency, and the new Turbo-Diesel engine on the Sierra 1500 is proof. Thanks to the new engine, a high compression ratio, a variable geometry turbocharger, and Active Thermal Management technologies, the 2020 Sierra 1500 gets up to 30 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in the city.*

Ready for Off-Roading: One of the best parts of truck ownership is the capability for off-road adventures. The Sierra’s all-new engine option delivers an impressive 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which means you can enjoy plenty of power for navigating rocky terrain. The available Traction Select System can assist the new Duramax engine to provide peak off-road traction control.

Highly Capable: As with all variants of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, the 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel engine is built for power. The engine has the capability to tow up to 9,100 pounds and is rated to carry up to 1,830 pounds of payload.

Learn All the GMC MultiPro Tailgate Details

GMC MultiPro Tailgate Details - Clinton Twp, MI

The Six-Function MultiPro Tailgate is an innovative feature that makes GMC trucks’ tailgates more functional and versatile. Available on the next-generation 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and the 2020 GMC Sierra HD, the MultiPro Tailgate is as strong and dependable as it is flexible.

The MultiPro Tailgate consists of several parts: a primary gate, an inner gate, a primary gate load stop, and an inner gate load stop. The primary gate is a normal tailgate that swings downward, but the difference between the MultiPro and other trucks is the inner gate.

The inner gate can function in various ways. It can open on its own without the primary gate opening so you can use it as a workspace. You can open it with the primary gate and configure it by latching and unlatching different panels. Once you open the primary gate, the inner gate can open so it hangs perpendicular to the primary gate, which lets you get closer to the bed of the truck so you can reach further into it. You can even unlatch another panel to turn the inner gate into a step, so you can get in and out of the bed with ease.

The inner gate can also be used as a load stop. If you’re carrying long items in your truck bed and can’t close the tailgate, the inner gate can fold up to create a barrier that gives you extra length without having to tie your items down.

The MultiPro Tailgate revolutionizes the versatility of truck beds. Check it out in person on the latest Sierra at Jim Causley Buick GMC. For more GMC MultiPro Tailgate details, give us a call.

Experience the Capability and Luxury of the AT4

GMC is a leader in the premium truck market, known especially for the deluxe Denali line. But customers asked for something comparable to the luxury of Denali with the capability of going off-road. GMC delivered the AT4 trim on the Sierra as a response.

The AT4 has stronger suspension and traction control systems without excessive lift jobs or oversized tires. It takes on the backcountry without sacrificing comfort and premium features.

The off-road trim, available on both light-duty and heavy-duty Sierra trucks, takes out the shiny chrome of the Denali and replaces it with matte smoke chrome for a muted, rugged look. Features like a carbon fiber composite bed, convenient infotainment technology, and intelligent safety systems remain in the high-end off-roader.

Inside are comfortable interior appointments that look good and can take on an athletic lifestyle. Plus, the renowned MultiPro tailgate that put Sierra on the map multiplies the weekend adventure possibilities.

Sales of luxury trucks have tripled over the last four years, according to GM, and that’s exactly where GMC shines. The AT4 is another model that lends itself to the “premium that’s meant to be used” ideal of GMC.

You can order the GMC Sierra AT4 from Jim Causley Buick GMC. You’ll love the luxury of the AT4.

pickup buying tips - clinton township, mi

If you tow frequently or needs to carry lots of equipment, you need a truck. If you have a busy family who likes the outdoors, you could also use a truck.

No matter the reason you want a truck, it is important that you choose the right truck for your needs. Here are a few pickup buying tips to get you started.

How Are You Going to Use the Truck?

If the truck is just going to be your family hauler, you probably won’t need the most powerful engine, largest truck bed, and most rugged features. However, you want to make sure you get a Crew Cab, so everyone has enough room.

If your truck will primarily be used for work, you want to make sure it has the right towing and handling capabilities.

What Options Do You Need?

An affordable truck can quickly become too expensive with the addition of attractive options and packages. While you might be tempted to add in all the bells and whistles, your checking account might not be too happy about that. Focus on the features you really need to make the truck work for you.

If you want a strong new truck or an affordable used truck, you can find both at Jim Causley Buick GMC Truck.
