GM Adds Plug and Charge Feature for EVs

GM Adds Plug and Charge Feature for EVs | Clinton Township, MI

This summer, EVgo and GM expand their holistic Ultium Charge 360 charging approach by adding the Plug and Charge service to almost every EVgo DC fast-charging station. The Plug and Charge system is designed to make charging your electric vehicle simpler and more accessible.

Plug and Charge works in a few basic steps. First, you’ll need an EVgo account and smartphone app, an active OnStar connected services account, and the myGMC smartphone app. Next, perform a one-time Plug and Charge activation with your EVgo app. From then on, easily plug in your electric vehicle and charge without reaching for your wallet, since the charging station automatically bills you.

GM and EVgo plan to expand the Plug and Charge feature by adding 3,250 fast-chargers throughout the U.S. by 2025. Additionally, GM plans to broaden Plug and Charge to every fast-charging station in the Ultium Charge 360 network. The network currently features over 100,000 charge points in the U.S. and Canada, including more than 1,300 in Michigan.

The system works on all existing and new electric vehicles built on the Ultium system, including the GMC HUMMER EV. Charge the GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 Truck up to almost 100 miles in 10 minutes at the available 800-volt DC fast-charging stations.
